Do you really care? Do you want him ostracized, made an example of, or do you think he should be treated like any other individual shoud be treated.

I think because he is an actor they are making such a big deal about it all. As far as drunk driving he should be treated as any one else would be. Unless he injured someone it should not be broadcast all over the world, he deserves privacy. As for the remarks he made, so what everyone says things they do not mean in anger. Just because he was drunk does not mean what he said was his true feelings, as some jewish spokes person had remarked, I am jewish and I do not take it personal. He has done a lot of wonderful things and is a great actor and director, so why should one mistake cost him everything.

Mel GIbson cannot be treated like any other individual unless those individuals have 860 million dollars and own an island which they have purchased in the pacific for 15 million dollars . Are there other individuals like that ?? No Mel Gibson has the celebrity status to influence many people and have the attention of the media any time he wants. However in this incident his celebrity status worked against him causing people to take a real hard look at Mr. Gibson and see aspects of his personality that Mr. Gibson would rather not allow people to see.Mr. Gibson during his arrest is reported to have asked deputy sheriff James Mee " Are you a Jew"? this I read from a page on the website tmz.com which anyone can access. What punishment awaits Mr. Gibson in the short term or the long term is yet to be determined, I feel sorry for Mr. Gibson for in his mind he is living a life with anger hate and torment and alchol addiction which with all his wealth and celebrity he is suffering the consequences.

The man is a bum. He makes anti-Semitic comments when he's not drunk. He makes anti-Semitic comments when he is drunk and excuses himself by saying he is an alcoholic. he even gives Alcoholics a bad name.

When you decide, as Gibson has, that you have important things to say and that people should listen to you then you have a responsibility to not abuse your situation. The self proclaimed 'King of Malibu' is a spiteful mean human being who does not deserve people's attention. He should be ostracized because he chose to put himself in the position where he believed that people should listen to him and people shouldn't listen at all. Any other individual would be vilified why should Gibson receive 'special' treatment - something which he obviously felt entitled to when he berated the California Highway Patrol Officers.

Why should we have to tolerate people like Gibson? There are decent people in this world who deserve wealth and fame more than this bum Gibson. why waste time on him. Why not show that we do care in decency for once and tell this bigot to get lost. He's rich enough in any case. Why feel sorry for him? He can go into holy orders if he is as religious as he claims. I for one would not shed a tear if I never saw his ugly face again.

And the really scary thing is that this creep insists that he is going to heaven. No wonder there are so many atheists.

I actually find it to be a big joke! So what. No one ever cares about racism towards Latin Americans of African Americans. If he has made a statement about slavery or immigration no one would care. This is still a country who proudly displays the confederate flag, a flag of which might as well be a swastika cause it represents the death of a race also, slavery! But no one gives a rat's azz about that now do they?

I agree with Katy... I also think that Mel's father did manage to impart some of his warped thinking on his son. As an actor Mel is fine. As a person he leaves a lot to be desired.

Treated like a drunk driver. No more no less.

I liked him as an actor, as a film director; now I have lost all respect for him. Don't want to see any film of his.

If he has any integrity left as a human being, he should go to Israel and publicly apologize to the Jews for his outburst.

You have a drunk celebrity making a slam against the Jews and the media wants him kicked out of Hollywood. You have an entire culture trying to destroy the Jews, and the media says "But, gee, shouldn't we try to understand their point of view." I find the hypocrisy funny and sad at the same time.

I think they should leave the guy alone. So he got drunk and said some inappropriate things. Big deal. Instead of jumping on him they ought to get after those people who are supporting terrorist, like Iran, and those countries that take bribes instead of doing the right thing. (like France). That is more important.
