and if so, do i need to be a US citizen to get the job?? being a permanent resident wont do?

If the U.S. government owns the museum (like the Smithsonian), then yes. Federal just refers to the U.S. federal government. If a state, city, or private institution owns the museum, then no. I have no idea whether you would need to be a citizen, sorry!

No, I think federal jobs are the ones you get in Federal agencies, like the FBI, CIA, or NSA for example, I don't think that a museum is considered a federal institution.

There is no "federal" museum. Getting a job would most likely be based on your education level.

I think most museums are private institutions that depend upon donations to be run, so it wouldn't be governmental, I don't think.
