'Old' doesn't seem derogatory when you are young - only when you're old.
How about 'Ancient Britons'?

I quite like calling older people 'Elders', I think it conjures up wisdom. Old and elderly conjures up wizened, bent-over people in my mind and is horrible Senior citizens isn't bad but then I think of a future world where 'all citizens' must obey.

No I know I am old. What annoys me and being called darling or sweetie by young women. This is derogatory to me.

Elderly lady or gent is fine. Yes, even referring to them as senior citizen's is acceptable, but I guess they would like to be known as 'Tom' or 'Jan' - get the picture?

Well they are old so why not call them that? Is it derrogatory to call someone a young person?
