Yes its better to keep such friends but put a lilttle distance in the relationship so they understand you really cant be together but be sure to maintain steady communication with them because someday they might just be there when things dont work out perfectly with the one you choose to be with so ,the'll be there t o catch you on the rebound

yes as long as you know there is no hope and can just be mates. I was like that with a fella at work and thought there would be more but he said he didnt see me that way. I accepted it and now he is my bestest ever friend. we mail/txt daily, and go out drinking and even have the odd dvd nite, but we got our own lives and even laugh over each others love life.
so go for it if why loose a good mate...love em as mates

If you can cope with it, then yes, I think so. I have a really good friend who I met and fell for 10 years ago. The friendship works well because I know he'll never be mine. He knows how I feel too which helps.

Well its whether you think you'll still be okay with them not being yours in a couple of weeks, months or years.
Ask yourself whether you'll be able to cope. If you think the best thing to do is to let go of them because you can't have them and try to move no, then do it.
If you think staying as there friend will always be the best option, then go for it.

Yes, if you love them you want to be with them and be there for them when they need help. It could be rather painful if they go out with other people, though; that is something you have to deal with somehow.

only as long as you don't try to mother him as a substitute for being with him and you can accept that he will probably get with someone you won't think is suitable for him... Hope i havent been a bit too presumptious here!
