I live in Ireland which has been economically hugely sucessfull in recent years but the fabric of society has crumbled at the same pace.Crime and specifically drug crime has spiraled out of control with drug wars and killings every other day.Traffic has increased tenfold.Broken families are the norm. Kids dont seem to have any time to be kids and are cared for by baby minders not their parents.Where are we going with all this.Any ideas

It is not progress that is eroding values. It is greed and drugs. Secondary factors include lack of planning and lack of foresight. Any country that blindly follows the path of post industrial expansion without setting up a sustainable economic structure for their own environment will suffer the same stresses.

It is one thing to say the world needs to learn how to manage the environment, and another to come to the understanding that each nation, each community, must do it on their own. Ireland must choose. If greed and drugs is the choice, then woe betide ye.
