That's nice you want a horse. You need to do some research and learn all you can about horses. Join your local 4-H club to get started.
What is a mare? I have to assume that's what you meant. A mare is a female horse. She is called a filly until she's between 3-4 years old. Mare's are good first horses, especially an older mare. Older geldings are good picks as well.

Well I think its neat that you want a horse but do you understand the time and commitment you would have to make? How much feed and hay will cost you in a month. And if you would be keeping it at a horse boarding place or on your own land. Do you want a young one or an older one. These are all important questions that you will need to answer before you get a horse. Horses are big responsibility. Are you up for that? Did you know you have to worm and give west Nile shots to? And every month your horse will have to have its hoofs trimmed and fitted for shoes. If you can provide all of this to horse then I'm happy you can get one. But if not then hold off on getting a horse.

If you want a horse the best thing to do is take riding lessons from a professional. That way you will learn to interact with horses safely and see if you really like them enough to get one of your own. It takes a LOT of work and a LOT of money to keep a horse. Good Luck!

Ummmm... So what's your question? Can you pick mine for the best answer? I could use some points, I just started on here. I like horses too, and I also want one, but they're hard to take care of in an apartment. Oh well.

I don't blame you! Do you have property to keep one? They require some leg room, have you ever been around horses? Do you know someone who can help you get your horse? You can do alot of research on the internet about them, finding the right horse according to your abilities is the hard thing. If you know someone that's really good with them, take them with you to get him. or her. lol

Before you jump into buying a horse, Start out by helping out at a local ranch/barn, then lease a poney/horse, then maybe you can get one some day.

ok thats nice that you want one but you need to realize how much work a horse is. you have to feen it twice a day no exeptions! they all was have to have water because if they dont they could calice and twist a gut. and you must keep up on there hygen for them brushing and picking out their hooves.

keep in mind folks that this is probably a kid. I hope you get your horse. Remember, they are social creatures and if you just get one, you need to spend a lot of time with it or it will get depressed from being alone.
