It can. Most women have that problem after they have had the baby. Check out this article about hair loss during and after pregnancy.

The baby you're growing needs karatin (however its spelled) to grow and form its own little body. This is what hair is made of. Also, it needs vitamins and minerals, the things your hair needs to look and feel shiny and healthy.
Lastly, your hormones change, and hormones are what regulate hair growth.
If you are still pregnant and your hair is dry and dull and falling out you need to check with your doctor about your vitamin intake. You can read your body by your hair and nails, when they change and become brittle or dull its because your body doesnt have enough nutrients to keep up with them, and when your body doesnt have enough you cant tell if your baby does or not.
Make sure you're eating enough, and eating well, always take your prenatal vitamin, and check with your doctor to see if there is a childrens low dose vitamin you can take as well.

It can, if you're not keeping yourself nourished and hydrated.
Drink plenty of water - at least 8 8oz glasses is most definitely the rule during pregnancy. Otherwise, you'll be dehydrated, your body removal functions slow down and you'll be constipated. Not to mention dehydration causes dizziness & may cause cramping! Baby needs mommy to drink enough water, so they can keep getting the nourishment that they need.
Also, take your prenatal vitamins. If you're having morning sickness and can't keep them down, then take Flinstones or another chewable with iron.
Eat plenty of lean meats (not lunchmeat, red is best), fully cooked. Also eat plenty of fruits & vegetables. Stay away from bad carbs, junk food, and fast food.
Babies will take as much as they can from the mother. A woman's body is designed to care for baby first. All the nutrients that you will get for yourself (if there are any), is all you get. And the less nourishment you give yourself each day - the less you'll have for baby to grow and for you to live by.

Hi Dee,
Yes being pregnant can cause hair to fall out its a condition called alopaceia and it is quite common in pregnant women, but dont worry your hair will regrow and once you deliver you should have no further problems.Alopaceia is also caused by stress.
It has a lot ot do with the change in your hormones due to pregnancy, but dont stress and enjoy being pregnant.

The reason for this to happen is because your body is concentrating all of it's energy on the growth of your baby and if you'll notice your nails will grow faster and even your hair. Our bodies "women" when we're pregnant makes rapid growth and for this our hormones go bonkers. Everything will go back to normal after you give birth just exercise and you'll look even better then you did before you got pregnant. Good luck on you journey.

It's supposed to cause you to have luxurious hair but sometimes it can cause your hair to just go to hell but I would still check with the doctor to make sure it's not anything else causing this.
