your skin is held into place by amall elastic fibers called 'fibrills' they fibrills constiture many little fiber like stuctures which are actually protein, these protein cannot be decomposed, erroded easily .. that is why it is found externally, but when we stretch or apply checmicals, we break the protein bonds and actually loosen the fibrills which will ultimately result in making rows of space which collectively form, a stretch mark...

This is so overrated. Google or yahoo it. There is tons of info on them. What they say about removal I'm not so sure about, for my brother gets them all the time and when he gains weight, they disappear completely while my sisters are permanent.
