Diogenese, thanks for the explanation. However, there are a lot of annoyed people on this thread who really hate the 'Head On' commercial and know they won't buy it!

I will never buy the Head On stuff no matter how good it is, I hate getting yelled at. Also no matter how good ANYthing Billy May sells is, I will never buy that, either--people should totally 100% boycott all advertisers that think you are so stupid you need to be yelled at.

This may be just a local ad here in Mid Tenn but it's an add for Shoney's and there are these 2 uber-country sounding young women who are twins and one says "No lie." and the other says "Free pie." But it comes out sounding like "No laaaaah. Free paaaah." They could not have gotten two worse acting, countrier sounding chicks if they tried. They must be related to someone.
We southerners will be a long time living this one down. Or should I say "long taaaaahm?"

There is, believe it or not, a fine line on that one. Some products use annoying commercials simply to get you to recognize the name, then switch over to a commercial that does not annoy you later.

What they found is that the funny, non-annoying commercials consumers liked, but had no idea what the company who put them on was.

If you get them to remember the name first, then you can hit them with the non-annoying ones.

Go figure, but that is the way it works.

Something about starting a small business and being your own boss. The book is worth "thousands" but it will be given away free on some website. I don't need to buy the book to know I jsut have to write a book, get it published, open a website and get an obnoxious commerical on TV to be a millionaire.

Of course not!

The ones with Burt Bacharach or Little Richard.

I don't even remember what the product was that the commercials were pitching. I just think they were acting ridiculous, and I want to remember their talent & genius for something other than those stupid commercials!

I have seen ones from Sonic Drive-In that drive me absolutely crazy.. Those two idiots in the car talking to one another about some food product that they can't live without. Do I buy their product? No WAY!

The ones with Downey with the teddy bears in the laundry baskets and the shirts waving in the breeze on a clothing line in the countryside. I still buy them because they hit a really soft spot in my heart... but yeah they're pretty annoying.
