Actually we think things taste like chicken because it's the most popular meat besides beef and pork. So anything that kinda resembles the look and consistency of chicken is described as tasting like it so that we who have not actually tried this new food might have a frame of reference from which to base our mental image of it's actual flavor. Of course rarely does anything that is described as tasting like chicken actually really does.

Interesting question. I'd like to pose this one back to you... why is it when someone doesn't know what something tastes like, people will say "tastes like chicken". Wonder who, when and where that all started. Yep, definitely tastes like chicken!

Well alot of things do taste like chicken and
one of the reasons are because we eat so much of it and you acquire a taste for it so everytime you eat something it taste like chicken.

Everything doesn't. People just are not very good at explaining the subtile differences in food so they just say it tastes like chicken.

You must have a very bland and incredibly boring palate if you think everything tastes like chicken. try boiled crawfish sometime. that definitely does not taste like chicken.
