I agree at the creepiness of this. It scares (startles) the sh*t out of me when it happens!!!! It's so retarded -- I wish I was cool like those guys.

Let me ask you this question: would you have noticed any of those people if they hadn't honked at you? Unlikely.
The basis is : if you don't try, you won't get. Period.
The point here is that some women respond to this positively, some negatively, but the man will have been noticed. Biologically that's all that matters. Asserting one's manhood is essentially the same thing; if no females know you're a male, how are you going to pass on your genes?
It's analogous to having that bright shiny tail if you're a male peacock. It's only your higher brain that's telling you you're annoyed; your more instinctive functions are immune to such ideas as feminism, justice, law, philosophy, propriety etc - they are instinctive and boil down to sex, food and survival. All of these are available to different extents from different males; the status of the male, whether in physical or group-hierarchical terms, will affect the amounts in direct proportion.
The modern world has draped but a loose cloth over a million years of evolution; the shape of the creature beneath is plain to see.
I might pose a counter-question - why can women be so astonishingly naive regarding the behaviour and impulses of men? Well - because they are women. Men are equally likely to be astonishingly naive regarding the behaviour and impulses of women. The sexes see the world in different ways; truth has a strong element of the subjective about it in this regard. What I'm saying is : what men think is not entirely the truth for women, and what women think is not entirely the truth for men, so I would advise people to stop attempts to 'gender-specify' sociological data; both sexes will interpret it differently, and the truth of that perception is total only within that sex.

I never honk the horn or yell at girls in traffick. I have seen alot of other guys do it, though. Most of the time the girls aren't putting their brakes on, just ignoring them. On the other hand, I have had more than a few girls say hello at a red light and want to pull over to talk at a store or gas station. So, maybe there is a right way and a wrong way to do it, but I usually just stick to clubs and other social events.

I always wondered if there's ever been a couple whose children ask them one day, "How did you meet daddy?" "Well, I was walking down the street minding my own business. Your father drove by in his ratty old Ford pick-up, honked at me, I gave him the finger, and it was love at first sight!"
Seriously.

Oh give the guys a break. They are just excited and expressing their joy of looking at you and being in your presence. They will grow out of it when they get older.

Believe it or not, they actually believe that there is a chance that you will stop and talk to them.
