I have lived in Michigan for my whole life. I am about to begin my last year in college, and after that, nothing will be keeping me here. I hate winter, and have wanted to get out of this state for years upon years. I have always wanted to move somewhere with a mild climate year round. Since I love beaches, I thought maybe Hawaii. But, I have heard many bad things about actually living there. I have been to Florida, and didn't really like it. But, it was near Orlando, so maybe it was just the area? I would love to live in or around a pretty big city but be able to get away for a while if needed. I have an open door and no idea where I should go. Any suggestions? Do you live in a warm state? If so do you like it? Please don't tell me I should just suck it up in a cold state...cold weather honestly makes me miserable. Thanks!

First of all congrats for the education as knowledge is truly the gateway for almost anything is life. Whereever you move to make sure the job market has openings for what you plan to do with your life. Depending on what you want where you live you have many options. I was born in northwest ohio and now live i Tx. and I love it! Of course there are many days I hate the heat but I love the open spaces and the fact I can be near a big city and yet be in the country at the same time.

I live near Charleston, SC and love it here. While it doesn't qualify as a big city, it's not that far from Charlotte, NC or, a little farther away, Atlanta. Charleston has beaches and lots to do. The restaurants are great. There's a short period during the winter where it gets cold enough to use your fireplace, but that doesn't last long (and doesn't always happen). Also, there're a lot of younger people here. You really should check it out. It's a beautiful, beautiful place.

California has mild temperatures year round. It is a little pricey to live there but that is because so many people are moving there from the Midwest. I would suggest that you spend your last year applying for a job in California and move there with a job in hand. You didn't mention your major, but if you need a job suggestion, teachers make around 40K here and get to get away for the summer.

It's a big city and it's wonderful, I live here, and even tho it gets colds of course when winter gets here, it's still a great place to live...good luck with you choice tho...

I also grew up in Michigan and now live in Ontario but I lived in southern Tennessee for three years and LOVED it. Snowed once and I completely missed it. I was a college student at the time but there were a fair number of jobs as it was a growing area. South Carolina is also nice.....and if you want the big, big, city you just can't beat Atlanta. I know a number of people who live in Atlanta who love the weather and lifestyle. Good luck.

San Diego. If you want mountains head east; ocean, go west; desert, go east over mountains; a foreign country, south to Mexico. A city bigger then S.D., go north to (ugh) L.A.
And we have the beaches and surfing crowd.
The weather is was used to pattern Paradise's. But, San Diego is rather expensive and you will need to have wheels.
The women are just as fine as anywhere else, too.

Wanna come over? I lived in Jakarta, Indonesia. This is an archipelago country. We got the sun, sand, sea, smile all year round. We got tsunami about twice lately, but no snow hazzard. Sounds cool for you?

The caribbean islands. Cuba, Jamaica, Aruba, just pick one. Well, actually, maybe not Cuba.

And this is off topic, being neither religious or spiritual.
