I'm from the UK and whilst working in a factory bumped into a bloke that was one year above me in school at home.
Whilst working in Australia i met a bloke i used to work with in Holland and also met a friend i used to go to University with in England!
Anybody else got any small world stories?

I was in a bar the weekend before New Years. I was alone at a large table. There was a group of 5 people came in and there were no large tables. The bar maid told me she would buy me a beer to move to a single table and let them have mine. I said no problem. I live way down south and could tell that they weren't from around here. The bar maid came back later with a shot of Tequila (my favorite, and just what I was thinking would be good), she pointed to the table I was at and said they ask if I would join them. Went over and found out that one of them was a lawyer from New York who had just help to close down the place I had been working for 30 years. He paid for all the drinks that night and let me dance with his sister. I thougth that was pretty cool...small world...

It is a small world but very big too. I havent seen very much of it :o(

But, I did go to Greece once, and on the beach, like right next to me, was my neighbour from when I was about 13 which was funny.

Another one is my mum rents her house out, and down the pub one night, chatting to a guy, doing the usual about where do you live etc etc - turns out he lives rents my mums house and was in the same class at school as my sister - now 39.

And my last one, is when my mum and dad split up when I was a kid, the family that bought our bungalow (from London) had two kids - was in my current job - so 23 years later, and one of the lads was trying to get a duvet covered delivered - this new guy said get it delivered to his mums - gave the address - which made my head shoot up (this bungalow was one my parents designed and had built so it had very special memories) - after the initial shock (to me!!) it turns out he was one of the two kids, his parents still lived there and he had my old bedroom! Spooky. It was well weird!!

God I can talk sometimes!!! :o)

Not quite like that -- wow those are wild coincidences. I was at Disney World back when I was in high school and lived in Florida at the time. I returned to Virginia for a visit to find out an old friend was down here at Disney and thought they saw me (but they weren't sure so didn't approach me) and it WAS the same day I was there.
My father retired from the Pentagon and while in Ft. Myers (Florida), he ran into an old co-worker at a gas station.

Hey, they say in this small world. Ever heard the six degrees of seperation theory? The woman next to me on the bus maybe the best friend of my favorite aunt and I won't know it.

My small world story: I'm Greek and I travelled to London for a brief vacation. I was in the British Museum and the guy behind me said loudly to his wife, in Greek: "I really need to take a s**t! Where's the bathroom?" I very politely answered him in Greek: "Around that corner, sir!" I never thought I would actually see a person's face turn crimson red in under one second!

I worked in a fat camp in New York and a lad who lived around the corner at home was also there. My husband also bumped into a couple he met whilst diving in South Africa in a bar in Liverpool.

I was in a study abroad program in Florence and now that I am back in the states - 6 years later one of the students that was in the same program lives in the same town as me. (this is unusual b/c people come from all over the states for study abroad programs.)
Also a woman from a shop we used to frequent before we moved 60 miles away ended up moving to the town over from our new town and we ran into her while shopping.

When my husband and I were on our honeymoon in Antigua, we met another couple on their honeymoon and ended up socializing with them on several occasions. We were from South Carolina, and they were from Connecticut. One night at dinner, we started discussing where we'd lived before, where we'd gone to school, etc. The guy from CT started his "history," and at one point said that's he'd gone to the University of the Americas in Mexico City for awhile. I told him that I had a good friend in high school who'd gone there. He asked her name and I told him. He said, "We dated for a long time and I was supposed to come to Virginia one summer but didn't because we broke up." That verified it for me. I lived in Virginia when I knew her. Yes, small world.....and this was a long time after high school!
