if you are talking about a vaginal delivery, then normally can vary. Most start with a spinal block to reduce the pain for the mother. Then as the mother dialates more and more the doctor begins to watch closer until you are dialated to the appropriate amount to allow delivery. Once the water has broken adn you ahve reached that point then you will have to start pushing to help the baby progress down the birth canal. Once the baby gets to a point where the doctor can assist then they will help the baby pass down the canal and out of you. Then the baby is check to be sure is breathing and everything then placed on the mother and the cord is cut and tied then the doctor awaits for the afterbirth delivry.
This is very simplified but hope it helps

A normal delivery is the baby being delivered from your vagina just by pushing. This can be with or without drugs. An emergency or medical need delivery is a delivery such as a c-section or using the vacuum or forceps to deliver the baby. They use those instruments to pull the baby out if pushing isnt doing it. Nothing is ever completely normal, each person is different as is their labor.

Not one delivery is the same. I mean no one person is alike are bodies are all different. I can tell ya that having an epidural w/ one and one w/out. The one w/out was actually more rewarding. Hurts like crap but you forget as soon as they set your little one on your stomach!
