If you are looking for free email service, you can avail the same at Yahoo or Hotmail or Rediffmail just by registering your details in the New User Register form.
If you are looking for an email as yourname@yourname.com, then you have to register a domain name with a minimum (as per your requirement) email server space. It may cost you some where around USD 18 for domain registration and almost equal for server.
The email serivces are offered through Rediffmail, Netfirms etc.,
Even Yahoo and Hotmail too offer such paid - Premium services.
If you are looking for your own mail server, then you can look at MDomain and related softwares.
Most of the time the ISP that provide you internet service used to give an email account - premium with the service that you take. The feature may depend on the service you avail from them.

Depends on what type of address youa re talking about. Are you want your own me @me.com? or simply a me@yahoo.com or some similar address. For the ones at yahoo or other email providers you simply sign up for one providing the website or host with what information they require as well as what first part of address you want. If the first part is not already taken by someone else the provider will give you that address and a way to check it. If you are want the me@me.com, then you ahve to purchase the website me.com from a host provider (such as networksolutions.com) and then either host the website yourself or find someone to host it for you and then you can also get the email hosted and make your own email address.

Go to the yahoo homepage @ http://www.yahoo.com and click on the "mail" button. The register for an email address. You decide the name you want to use. And Yahoo will do the rest.

do not listen to them
go to yahoo home page and click on email
when it asks for your id name and password go to just below that where it says sign up for a new id
a page will show up to put in an id name of your choice with a password and then fill out the information then you have an adress

Choose where you would like your email address, whether it's yahoo hotmail, etc. So if it's yahoo click on the mail icon and then choose sign up. then go from there

Get one yahoo.com's home page by cliicking on new user or sign up. Try hotmail too but not good as yahoo
