What can I do to protect my money before we divorce?

I earn more than her. The house and 2 cars are in my name. I don't think I can afford all 3 without her income. We have only a few grand in cash

In your name is essentially irrelevant. When were they purchase, before or after marriage. this is key. Basically, only what you gained during marriage is an issue. just about every divorce starts at 50/50. But the question is 50% or what? Do a financial reconcilliation then go from there.

Have you opened a roth IRA? You can protect about $4000 that way but you won't be able to spend it until you are retired unless you are willing to pay a big penalty. Good investment though. Other than that you will have to divide everything up equally or buy the other person out. You should probably sell the house, split the equity and give her a car.

well depends on why your divorce... if someone did something the were not spouse to then the other person if ******.on the other hand if it and agree meant on both of you that you can be together anymore that different. go on how long you were married she could be intitled you half your retirement also. with her making less money then you as i said how long you been married you may have to pay some spouse support. child sport is high on and married couple then and none married one. i say talk to and lawyer of if your doing this with out court come to some agree meant that u both can handle. have it taped dated signed and notified .if you talk to your lawyer ask about drawing your own agree meant to the divorce. in this put that u don't want to have to pay any spouse support , give her and car or the home how ever u want to do it if you can pay the bills own your own let her have something. was the home yours before you were married if so then u have the home.
