I completely agree! Can't wait! Its not that I have anything against smokers, I feel that everyone should be able to indulge in whatever vices they choose, as long as it doesn't affect others, so for all of you using the 'smokers have rights too' phrase, yes you have rights but don't infringe on others right NOT to inhale smoke!

Its not brilliant, I've been in that scenario for a couple of years, its shite, and all the fun folk are outside anyway, as you will find out. If you have any filthy, contaminated, addicted, polluter friends (which I doubt, as obviously you are too special and smoking fascism comes above friendship in your life) - you will find they will move pubs to one with a better smoking area.
PS. Don't take my outside seat when the sun is out. Its mine winter and summer.... I'll blow smoke at you!

Probably a good thing too that the pub will be there, nice and smoke free for all the alcoholics. (See, that's an addiction as well)
I agree that smoking is bad for you, but so is drinking. I've never know a person to smoke a cigarette then drive a car and kill a family. That's the drinkers. And good luck with those liver problems. Oh and STD's, thank to beer goggles and poor drunken judgement.
A vice is a vice...

Yep. Its gonna be fantastic. I'm a smoker and I really cant wait for the law to be put into place. I am sure it will help me kick my additction to the evil nicotine. Most of my mates are non-smokers and all my family, but even after several attempts at packing it in, here I am still puffing away with what is a disgusting habit! If we go out for a meal, we sit at non-smoking tables and thats fine by me, I dont want to spoil their night.
I am always really concious of it when around non smokers. I honestly dont think everyone is as considerate as me, and all I can say is 'Why has it taken so damn long?'
Revenue by any chance????!

I am a smoker, but try to respect non smokers fresh air, but if what i saw on a government web site the other day is anything to go by, we will not be able to legally drink or smoke anywhere, even our own homes, as certain mp's are lobbying to have alcohol and tobacco redesignated as class b drugs, therefore making it illegal to purchase either item

I am a smoker. I believe we should also have the right to smoke if we so choose. I personally ask people if they mind if I smoke. If they mind,I don't smoke. There should be designated places for all us. Sooner or later your pub's will not be able to stay open without smokers,so enjoy it while you can. What you fail to realize is,the same people that take my rights away, will sooner or later take something you like away also.

It is, I was in Scotland the weekend the smoking ban was introduced there, and it was great not smelling like an ashtray when I got back from the pub.
Roll on the ban in England!

I stay in scotland and we have had it for a while. I quit smoking last year and it is great. I miss the ashtrays to put rubbish and ice into though its weird. Takes a while to get used to but i love it.

The one thing I miss the most about living in California is all places of work are smoke free. It was so nice. I don't blame you for being excited. Of course that isn't to say the smokers will be happy about it.

Tried in Scotland and its much better!
There's always a downside though and since people have to go outside you ll notice big groups of blokes smoking away, this can be quite intimidating. My wife walked past a place pushing our baby in the pram and when she got back to our house she had a burn in her jacket from a cretin who caught her with his cigarette.
