They say that exercise increases the production of endorphins. Endorphins make you feel happy. Go to a gym near your home or office and sign up for group classes that feature cardiovascular workouts. They're fun and you'll meet lots of people and you may even find a special someone there (if you aren't attached).
If that doesn't work, it might help to speak to someone close to you about what you think is causing your depression.
It's normal to get depressed and sometimes we just have to let it run its course. But, if it persists for more than 6 months and you are having physical symptoms of tiredness and or not wanting to get out of bed and or not wanting to do things you normally like to do, it's time to seek the help of a psychiatrist/psychologist.
Good luck!

I sure know what you are feeling and how difficult it is. Take a brisk walk, excercise or do some part time voluteer work. Any and all of these will release the endorphins that will make you feel better, but I do take medication, You might want to talk to your dr for something to help you temporarily. No stigma there.

Try focusing on something that you enjoy.
Try not to think about what’s bothering you by telling yourself that “the next time I think about that stuff, I’ll just read a book on cooking or some other skill”
It really hard to get out of depression but you can only try and not give in to it.

Depression is an awful thing, I'm no expert but my Mum suffers. I think the main thing is to keep busy and make sure you have something to look forward to. Make plans, don't be too hard on yourself and remember there's always someone worse off than yourself.

I agree with the first answer....when you say depressed do you mean..not wanting to leave the house..not interested in conversations with others....crying....sad every day...no hope for your future?....If so, you definitely need to seek medical attention to get temporary meds to help get you out of the funk........
If you are meaning just depressed from...boredom...lack of activity...no social life.... Then you should try a self-help book in the category of thinking positive and making changes.

If it's been more than 3 or 4 weeks, see a counselor.

If it is just the blues, everyone gets them and you can get over them easily. If you are feeling seriously depressed, you need to see your doctor
