OK. My boyfriend got 'caught' speeding almost a year ago, and when he was pulled over, told 'I didn't catch you on record (no laser/camera/radar/anything) but i'd say you were going 80 in a 50 zone. BF is confused, can't have been going that fast as is a corner with spoon drain. Court case was last week, and in the statement the cop has lied - about his location - says he was on the street it happened when he wasn't. He says he caught BF on laser at 80 in a 50, says he'd had a fight with girlfriend - very not true! So this book of lies is what we have to fight - can it be done? Who will believe a 20 year old's word against an officer of the law? Any help on what we can do would be appreciated

From what I have heard the radar detectors readings are recorded so the cop would have to have a record that matches the ticket. I would also go and take some pics of the exact place where the officer supposedly clocked him and where he stopped him and measure the distance between the two. Then figure out is it would of been possible to have stopped going 80 in that distance or if it would of taken a further distance to have stopped safely. What surprizes me is that arent all cop cars fixed up with video cameras now days and have to record all thier stops? If you go into this battle looking at it as age against the law you will probably lose. Do your homework and get everything in writting and have pictures and what ever else you can think of. The more evidence you take with you and present the better chances you have of winning . Another suggestion is to one day stop a cop (of course not the one that pulled your bf over ) and get his opinion about the speed and distance of the stop. Get it in writting and have him sign it. Just leave the part out about it being for your bf. I would say you are doing it for research. You wont be lieing and you wont be telling him it is to screw over one of his fellow partners. It is the truth because you are doing research its just that your research it to prove your bfs inocence but thats the part you leave out. Dont forget to comment on the fact that why the officer did not have his cameras rolling while making the stop. Ask to see the the record of the detectors reading and check the time.

the radar or laser operator had to have certificate to operate the equipment secondly on the ticket there should be a notation of the equipment use when it was and by whom calibrated I&E radar laser or pasing do not plead to anything and ask for a trial you will see that they will drop the charges futhermore ask for the radio traffic on that particular day it will say when where he stopped the vehicle the tape is a record of transmission between him and the dispatcher both beofre and after he issued the ticket true some Police officer maybe corrupt hoeever if you feel that they are wrong then challange them far too many people keep their mouth shut speak up what can they do except listen

You just answered your own question. Who will believe a 20 year old against an officer of the law?? Not the judge.
Pay the fine and slow down.

Get an attorney that does this kind of thing all the time and fight it OR plead Nola Contesta, keep you collective mouths shut, go to traffic court and pay court costs...[Cheapest way] Oh yeah keep your foot off the accelerator!

this happens all the time and there is nothing that can be done about it, crooked cops are everywhere and unforunately they will take the cops word over your boyfriends.
