I was like, she's in the garden & she can tell her cervix is dilated?
then I thought, she can actually feel her cervix? hell, I have no clue how far up in there mine is!! lol

If you've begun to dilate & you're at 38-40 weeks pregnancy, then yes, it could be getting near time to deliver. Unless the baby is effaced, tho, you won't get too far yet. If the cervix is open then most likely you've lost your mucus plug. I should be extremely careful about what you put in there from now on - it can get to the baby at that point. See your ob-gyn for a thorough examination, please. Good luck & congrats!

You can start dilating and active labor may still be way off. There are other signs that will have to fall into place and you're not giving a lot of detail. How far along are you?
And why are you using Evening Primrose? You are already pregnant, so it's not for that...............I don't get it............
Women use Evening Primrose to thin out the mucus that plugs the cervix and make it more penetrable for sperm thus facilitating fertilization. You are not having PMS, so it's not that either.......enlighten me. Have you had any check ups lately? Are you effaced? Is the Primrose supposed to aid in that?
So how far are you dilated and are you effaced at all? Any kind of labor pains?
Good luck to you and your baby.

Yes if your cervix is opening that is dilation. How meny finger can you put in? YOu need to be able to put in atleast 3 befor they will even put you in to have the baby. And meny times when someone is dilating they let them and the dad feel the dialation. Once you can put 8 fingers in you will beready to deliver! that is about 10 centameeters wide.If you have had kids befor it might open faster.Have you noticed this befor? Ok well I would check it about every 2hrs to see if there is more dialaton. and the more you check the faster you will dialat. Evey time my dr. would check me I would dialat about 1centameter and then she like really checked me and made me goin to full blown labor.I've had 4 kids! Remember you only have to be at a 4 for an Epadural. But if you are getting close to that you need to go on to the hospital.!
If for some reason you start feeling presure dow there like you have to go to the bathroom(#2) then go on to the Hospital also. that just means the babys wight is starting to push down into the birth cannal.
I hope this helps
Good Luck and Best wishes

It could mean that labor will start soon, but it could also mean nothing. Some women can go for a long time with a cervix dilated just a little before labor sets in.

I was dilated to 2 centimeters for the last 2.5 months of my first pregnancy. It's not uncommon to dilate a couple of centimeters in the last trimester. Doesn't mean you will begin labor right away or that there is something wrong. If you feel you need to see your doctor, give them a call. But I wouldn't worry overmuch. It's fairly normal. Good Luck and congratulations!

I am not an MD but have been a mom. Usaully your cervix will begin to dilate when you are in the beginning of labor mor rapid dilation begins after your water breaks. You will know when that happens. Monitor for cramping ( contractions) I would really check eith your nurse or doctor.

actually yes... but how many weeks of gestation is the fetus you're carrying? it may mean that you are already dilated and maybe you should check with your gynecologist just to be sure. sometimes inevitable abortion happens when you dilate and its not yet full term. or maybe you're already into labor. if it progressively dilates and contracts, then you better be at the hospital.

only a doctor or nurse could tell you that but i think you usually have some kind of labor pains before you start to noticeably dilate

You'll feel the contractions before labor starts by at least 3-5 hours. Just be prepared, just in case.

Holy Smoke! That isn't where I plant my primroses!

Sorry, couldn't help myself with an obvious opportunity for humor.
