That would be strange because there's never been a better time than now for access to information; the advent of the internet coupled with the media boom have make more young people aware, informed and smart.
Personally I think young people here in S E Asia are better educated than the previous generation. There are however downsides - they are lazier mentally and physically; more playful and frivolous; easily influenced; disrespectful; violent.... and YES, they are shallow.

I don't think young people are more clueless now and shallow because kids now knows so many things and exposed to things that they shouldn't know at there age. They are just sometimes into what they want and just don't give a damn. I think kids are smarter now a days because of what they are exposed too but its sad because innocence is lost at a very young age

I'd say yes. People in the past have more time to think/read/study about things, so they'd definitely be less shallow and clueless.
Everything's in a rush for young people nowadays, and they have lots of reasons to be distracted.

Not just young people. I guess that depends to on what you consider young. Just had a discussion about this topic. Seems the 35 and under are really materialistic.

Yes ! Thanx to MTV making it seem like being gay is cool . And paris hilton making it seem ok to fk anyone around you . And of course lindsy lohan making it ok to be sticks and bones. Oh one more laguna beach and the OC for making people feel like there worthless cuz there not rich and stupid

theres always gonna be a majority o stupid people around, plus it just seems that way because you are probably older and have gained more wisdom, so in comparison they seem even dumber

Not really. I think that parents are less strict and focused though. You can't blame everything on children. They only do what they have been taught to do.
