No. It makes you a smart Filipino. It is self-defeating to resist learning English. If you only speak English when you have to, you will never become truly proficient in English. When people hear poor English--grammar and/or vocabulary--they think that you're not intelligent or well educated, and so you are less likely to get a good job.
If people are telling you it makes you less of a Filipino, perhaps you should ask them why they are so hostile to the language of a country that offers them so much. I immigrated to the USA many years ago, and I am proud to say that I am an American. Much as I love my old country, it did not offer me the chance to get a university education, and I see no point in hanging on to an old way of life.
The people still living there are keeping the culture alive. I also notice that friends from my country who live here still think that things 'back home' are exactly the way they were when they left. But they are not; things change everywhere and the 'culture' that my friends are trying to remain loyal to, no longer exists.

I strongly disagree. It just so happen that the english language is used in almost anything, anywhere. There are really some instances that a filipino must speak the english language but it won't make him less of a filipino.

I disagree. It just happen that english language is the way we can communicate in this world. In our school, they promote the seaking in english campaign but we also have the filipino subject that helps us to be aware of the new lessons in filipino and reminding us to speak in filipino even though we our in a muslim country which is qatar. Before I am very confused of speaking english but I need to learn it in order to communicate in this country

what are you saying? all filipinos speak english, I do, but I can't speak tagalog. I kind of feel the same way, if you can't speak tagalog, then they tell you are an american boy or americanized person. What's up with that.

I wouldn't say that, but not being able to speak your native tongue at all would definetely cause you to lose lots of points with other people from the same place.
