Yes, especially if they have to do their own announcing. There are regular mimes and clown mimes. If you are a clown mime, you add a little symbol of some kind to your face makeup - like a teardrop or a moon or star, then you are perfectly free to talk or not to talk, during your entire act.

If I was a mime and wasn't allowed to talk ever again for the rest of my life as long as my career was in miming, I'd have to quit, cause I'd die from the lack of a social life, or else I'd learn sign language. OF COURSE MIMES TALK WHEN NOT MIMING!

Well I have heard of times when mimes take vows of silence and do not ever speak, but I think most mimes talk when not working.
