When I log onto the internet, can the forums I visit trace my MAC address for the network card and modem?

Does that mean that forum don't use MAC address to trace who logs in?

usually not for a normal forum.

If you are talking live on there possibly, but the other guy would really need to know what he was doing to trace you

Normally not. Once the connection passes through a router, the MAC address is irrelevant.

Your IP address is another story, however. It can always be traced.

Yes. anytime you go on the internet your information about your computer becomes public. So if the forum you are logging into gathers that information then they can see it.
