I feel it should be three generations or roughly 60 years. Should we put a time limit on it in the get go or just let it be decided at some point in the future?

When we start raising our children to realize everybody is equal, then maybe we will not need afffirmative actions. It starts with us and will end with us. Sorry to say,but I believe this will be a problem for a long time.

We all want equality. No one wants to be labled or looked upon as being a beneficiary of a program, no matter how honorable, regardless of its purpose in resolving an issue. For Education (primarily for law school), a proposal has been written and is in the hands of the DOJ. The case no# assigned to the proposal is DJ 169-73-0. Written by a former employee of the law school admissions services organization, the process will permit any law school applicant the opportunity to challenge their denial into the legal profession through failed admissions into a law school.

Their are ways of solving these problems, however you must perform the extensive research. If this proposal is successful, it would spark a process that would permit others to offer answers to the challenging issues involved with AA. For every problem awaits a solution to be developed.

I believe that AA within the topic realm of Education has a solution. Public contracts and employment can too be addressed !!!

Unfortunately I don't see all people being treated equally for a long time... the point of affirmative action was to give minorities opportunities to excel in positions that they were not offered in the past because of racist beliefs. Regardless of affirmative action there are many people in this country that hold discriminatory views towards African-Americans, Hispanics, women, and other religious groups. The problem starts with our sociey and our need to better instruct our youth to accept everyone regardless of the color of their skin, sexual orientation, or religious ideals... Equal? Sadly, you will not see it in your lifetime...

As long as there are major economic differences and one group lives in a lot more poverty, has lower wages, worse health etc
there is still a problem. Women still make less. No women or blacks or indians or hispanics have been president for example. almost all ceos are white men. when everything evens out the issues will be gone but it will never happen because the world has always been like this

My daughter wrot ea pape on this in high school for which she received an award from the Governor of Calfornia. In her paper she explained how Affirmative action was in itself a discriminatory and supressive policy. The time to repeal this is now as it should have been 15 years ago.

I think it's going to need longer than that. Look at Congress. Is it filled with minorities and women?? No, it has mostly white men. Until Congress is representative of the make up of the population, we really should keep it.

It should be done, and now. It is too bad that "reverse discrimination" occurs. All men (and women) are equal in the work place.

repetition is the function of understanding.
u'll continue to repeat what is right until the wrong accepts it .
its not easy, but i think this is just one of the ways to finally get the point home.
