I was thinking of buying a hot tub and would like to know what you need for the upkeep. Chemicals and such. Are they expensive? Also, is it a pain to maintain like a pool is? Don't have lots of time to mess with all that.

I have a Hot Springs Spa, the 6 seat capacity Sovereign model. I use the Baqua Spa chemicals and purchase them online. I really love the spa and the chemical system we use requires weekly testing and balancing, but is very easy to use and is great on the skin and doesn't burn your eyes. It cost us to hire an electrician to put in the 220 box and run the line out to where we wanted the tub to be located and we had him put in an additional 110 outdoor plug. The electricians recommended by the spa dealers are much less expensive than hiring one on your own. ($250 versus $750).

The chemicals run approximately $25 a month. We saw our electric bill go up about $20 a month, but we use our spa almost every day. We have the type that has the continual circulating pump, it has 23 jets, heater, LED 6 color light system and it is 355 gallons. We have to empty it every three months, clean and re-fill it. The water to clean it and re-fill it costs about $15-20

Totally worth every penny and we enjoy every minute in it.

hi, I certainly have the two a warm bath (small bath with jets) and an excellent 6 guy or woman spa. We infrequently use the nice and comfortable bath however the spa is used daily interior the iciness. it quite is a Blue Ridge style (U.S.) and that i offered it approximately 15 years in the past. the only maintenance it has ever required is to bathe it approximately each and every 3-4 weeks or so. I many times pour some quart of bleach interior the water to maintain it clean till the subsequent replenish. as quickly as there grew to become right into a small leak at a coupling next to the jet motor that in simple terms mandatory tightening. A spa is impressive. It makes you sleep properly at night and facilitates aching joints and muscular tissues in older human beings like me. we've quite enjoyed ours and that i might purchase yet another if mandatory. stable success.

Chemicals are cheap! But you have to buy them online and don't buy spa chemicals. They rip you off. Buy pool supply chemicals.

But your biggest expense is electricity. It'll cost you about $30 bucks more a month.
