You know when you create a new character in some RPG or MMORPG, in most cases you can name it however you want. So what's your method of picking the right name? Picking a name that resembles one of your interests/hobbies? Naming it after some other character? Adding a bunch of meaningless numbers at the end?

I usually just dabble random keys on the keyboard until I find an interesting letter combination and work from there.

When I create a character, I usually use names of famous people/characters, sometimes that have had professions similar to my character's class. For instance, on Ragnarok Online, my alchemist is named Semiramis, a semi-legendary Assyrian queen and sorceress, which I consider to be somewhat similar to an alchemist. My wizard is named Hecate after the goddess of witchcraft, for obvious reasons. I find Wikipedia has good lists of interesting names of people and characters.

I always name it a character from another game or book that I like. I've used FFVII characters a lot and also characters from the Dark Tower series.

I usually put "ice-nine" 'cuz that's my "halo name". If that doesn't work then I either use a name from something I'm into atm, or just use the system's name generator untill i get a cool one that I like.

come up with something clever enough to fit on a license plate that you would actualy drive around with, a play on words or just go to your DVD collection and pick the name of your favorite character. (guess where i got mine). If its already taken, change the spelling pheneticaly.

Some things I've named my characters after
-a star (Vega)
-a misspelling of a mythical person (lileth, Adam's frist wife)
-a perfume (Misopretty)
-a literary character (Bartelby)
-something I thought would sound "pretty" (Kevashani)
-something I thought looked "cool" (Illdeeth)

and so on...

Your own name backwards works well...for example...I am Madatoor, or Sir, Mada Eel Toor.
