by friends do you mean George w's brother going into business with a man Putin is trying to jail, undermining Putin knowingly.
Very good friends would seem to be reserved for the saudi's
Russia has asked for help to destroy its chemical weapons from america.
Americans worry about disarming people with weapons of mass destruction, but when russia asked its very good friend as you put it did nothing.
there are countless examples of why the two countries engage in unfriendly acts.
Maybe do some research other than watching fox news.

No. Putin is a thug. Irregardless, he still represents a very powerful country and cannot be dismissed. So, it is a political necessity to sit down with him and conduct nation-to-nation discussions. But that doesn't make us friends at all.

They don't. Putin is a bit dictatorial for the US to claim as a good friend. Our relations are cordial, but distant.
