Truth emerges more from errors than from confusion. Logic and logical thinking alone does not lead us to truth. It is only one of the many human devices to reach closer to truth; but at the end it is intuition that opens the gateway to the Truth.

Many times it helps in attaining the truth. But if some one intentionally creates situations in that case the logic takes to wrong conclusions. But still go on persisting it helps in attainment of truth. But both time and patience are required in attaining truth.

I know what logic is; I'm not sure I know what truth is.

It has been said that no one generates a thought by using logical processes. Instead, some thoughts, after they are formulated, make logical sense. But this does not mean that logic was used to generate these thoughts.

Logic is useful but highly limited. Some people find truth in Christ's Sermon on the Mount. What logic is to be found there?

I'm not personally big on discussions of truth. I think that individuals sometimes arrive at an experience of what is, for them, truth. It is experienced. Its true experession is poetic, not syllogistic.

Logic will help weed out what is not true. With logic there is no belief only truth by your own experience and fact not relying on what is being shown to you rather seeing the reality behind it.

Yes.

But, if not appropriately applied, it can deter from the pursuit of truth.

Reasoning, (or logic), is often influenced by anticipated or desired outcome of the applicator.

Perhaps a better question would be, can truth be obtained with the neutral, non-preconceived application of perfect logic?

Because logic is ultimatley the path to truth. Though not all questions can be answered with logic, as some have no answers to find.

The day you drop your logic you will find your Truth, in your heart, and that is a magic.
Let your mind be the vehicle to reach your heart. that's all, and when you reach there, make sure to drop it and become your heart instead.
