You could try and make some friends or take a friend with you when you go to the hairdresser and let them know you are worried about going in. If you are seriously having problems you can go and see a doctor who might get you to talk to a counsellor. It can be very useful to find out why you feel like you do because then you can understand it better and try to overcome it.
Ask yourself. What exactly are you afraid of?

I have that feeling when i think of dying. I get almost hysterical and its like i have a phobia of dying so i can understand the panic of when the thoughts pop into your mind unexpectedly. I also had a panic disorder for 3 years with severe panic attacks. I have never been medicated for this but i found i grew out of the panic attacks but i still have an intense fear of dying. When the thoughts pop into your head i think the best thing to do is concentrate on something really nice, like your children. dont let your mind rest on the subject that upsets you. I focus my energy on things like my friends or i read a book or turn the TV on so i am not surrounded by silence. Dont know if that makes sense or helps but thats how i overcome my episodes.

How did those panic attacks started? Did something happen to cause those panic attacks? Maybe you are so afraid of having a panic attack, that you "freak out" and actually have one. You shouldn't be so scared. Do you think that, when they first started, it was because you were scared that your classmates would laugh at you? I suggest you calm down, and when you feel you are about to have a panic attack, breath into a paper bag. Maybe it's all about a fear of judging, as you say it yourself. I am pretty sure that something happened that lowered your self-confidence. You shouldn't be so scared of being the center of attention in public, you should try to be more social and get more friends in school or someone that lives near you and keep in touch with your other ones. You shouldn't let fear scare your life, you should let life controll your fear.

I hope i helped

I am so happy, it was only a 35 minute drive ( 70 minutes total) but absolutely no sign of anxiety or panic i shopped till I dropped - brilliant! I will now go for the next stage DUAL CARRIAGE way, probably at the weekend, with my husband accompanying me first then the solo drive, if successful the final stage of driving on motorway

If you aren't already, get to a counselor. They can give you strategies to cope when the attacks hit as well as helping you figure out what possible triggers are. If you want to, and they think it would help, you may also be a candidate for medication.

i suggest you see your doctor about that. They can help you with figuring out what to do for your aniexty. you probably need some medication for a while to ease your attacks and your social awareness for the public.

I had the same thing. I hope this information helps you.

Please go to a doctor or counselor or psycologist and explain your feelings to them like you did here. Chances are you may be suffereing from a chemical imbalance that is highly treatable with low risk, non psycotropic drugs. These kinds of feeelings are only normal once in a while when they dominate your thoughts you need help.

You need to talk to a doctor. There are medications that can help with that. Some peer counseling could help too. I've been there!
