Yes, in the UK you can be fined for speeding on a bicycle, and get points on your licence (or points waiting for a future licence if you don't already have one). You can also be charged for drunk cycling.

Haven't had a ticket for speeding but have been stopped by the Police here in the UK for going too fast down a hill in Telford. It was several years ago and me and my friend, i was 15 at the time, were stopped by the Police when we go to the bottom of the hill which had been a radar speed trap. our bikes were inspected our details taken and we were given a good telling off for being reckless. Makes you laugh now. lol

not yet but I have once set off one of those speed indicators that you sometimes find placed on the road. I was in a 30 kph zone(20mph) and was going near 40 kph on my racing bike. Got the damn thing flashing you're driving too fast. I wonder if the police would actually fine you (they can hardly get your license plate now can they!!!!

You can be stopped by the police if exceeding the posted speed limit on a bicycle.
There was a clip on Police, Camera, Action a few weeks ago where a cyclist was exceed the 30 speed limit and diving in an out.
The police stopped him for his own safety. By law, you have to give your name and address if asked for by the police. If they don't believe you then they can arrest you pending confirmation of your details.

I heard of a pub landlord locally who was caught speeding down a local hill at around 60mph in a 30mph (I've done similar speeds down the top half of the same hill) and he framed the ticket and put it on the wall behind the bar he was so proud of it!

yes it has happened at least once that i know of. several years ago in the village of naples ny a guy got busted for doing something like 43 in a 30 zone. it made the local and some national news. cost him around 50 bucks and i think he even got points on his drivers license but i could be wrong about that.

Not that I know of. It'd be difficult to identify the bicycle I'd imagine without a number plate.
