I'm actually glad. If you think about it, raising minimum wage would only help make everything more expensive. What companies pay minimum wage and who are their workers? Grocery stores, restaurants, department stores...most people who work minimum wage jobs are not trying to support a family with it. It's usually older people who want something to do, students, or someone trying to earn a little extra money. If minimum wage was raised, the companies would have to find some way to gain more money since they're paying more...so they have to up prices. And then everyone, even people paying minimum wage, pay more for everything.

In 1981, according to the Congressional Research Service, over 15% of hourly paid workers made minimum wage, now that figure is down to 2.5%. Of that number more than 65% receive a raise within one year and the median raise is 14%.
Their reasoning is that quickly increased labor cost unrelated to business conditions will force employers to fire employees, reduce working hours for existing employees, and/or postpone plans to hire additional employees.

Of course they can't raise minimum wage. It would take up precious time that they use to give themselves raises. Legal thieves, that's what they are. All of them, on both sides.
