You're out of luck as Yahoo no longer has a web based chat client.
The only thing you can do now is have e-mail conversations. Or 360 conversations.
You might want to look at Yahelite when you actually can install software... and if it's your PC you should have permission.

It must be a parent issue. Ask them to trust you so you could be allowed to chat with your friends....even for 1 hour a day or have some kind of compromise....lawn, laundry, library..... Also tell them that a text messaging is .40 cents a message. Good luck.

Go to http://messenger.yahoo.com/, and at the bottom of the page underneath all the legal mumbo jumbo, you will see the words, Launch Web Messenger that will load a java version of yahoo messenger.
