and we were criticized for NOT going into Rowanda while millions died (and critizized for trying to prevent the same thing in Somalia).

No the USA isn't perfect. Yes they make mistakes....but why aren't people criticizing the germans, italians, and japanese for their pasts? What about the russians?

Why is it that the world expects the US to help them, then criticizes them for what they do or how they do it???

The majority of the people have nothing against America, they just hate Bush for ripping some countries apart all in the name of "freedom". Why didn't it occur to him that what seems like "freedom" to him does not necessarily mean the same to the others? The whole world doesn't have to think like the Americans, right? Some countries are just content with their way of thinking. The media gives wrong information about Islam, saying that all Muslims are terrorists. Here again, the blame is on the Jews. The Americans have moreorless nothing to do with it.

Because the way America does things around the world is the way the mafia operate - we're strong, we're rich, we're aggressive, we look after our own first, but occasionally we'll do a favour for someone else. You make a very great big deal about that last one and ignore the others.

America's interest in the rest of the world extends only as far as it is of interest to America. It is extraordinary that such an amazing nation (and I am in fact a great admirer of the American ideal - I have many close friends who are American, and am proud that my son was born on 4 July) should have so many people so completely self-absorbed and indifferent to the rest of humanity. You don't get your facts right. You have, for instance, doubled the population of Iraq. You ignore the fact that since "liberating" them (uninvited), the place is spiralling into civil war that the American occupiers cannot control. You ignore the fact that the US only stepped into WW2 after the Soviets had done all the difficult work. It really wasn't that difficult to liberate France when most of the Germans were trying to hold back the Red Army in the east. (The Atlantic convoys were invaluable however, and the British should forever be thankful to the US for them.) Even the BRITISH sent aid for Katerina - a disaster of America's own making, but which got the world's sympathy all the same. Everyone on Earth wept for 9/11, but Bush squandered that goodwill because he cared more for following his own oil-driven agenda than he did for the lives of 3,000 innocent office workers killed that day. America is the world's biggest defaulter of its bills to the UN, on the grounds that it gave them an HQ on the East River (which was generous, but shouldn't let them off all future responsibilities). Trade agreements are always weighted in America's favour. Oil producing nations and strong economies get special treatment, regardless of how they treat their population (Saudia Arabia, China). Now I'm tired of thinking of more reasons.

You had to ask. And the fact that you did is why it's so depressing.

The same reason why people criticize Israel endlessly and hold Israel up to standards beyond those of its neighbors.
Like the Jews, who are supposed to be "a light unto the nations", America is supposed to be a "city on a hill". America is supposed to be the ultimate, the best, and a good example to all other countries. People therefore expect perfection of the USA, this highly visible country whose culture influences so much of the world. People expect America to be an ideal.
When the USA falls short of perfection, it gets criticized relentlessly.

Nobody can deny the great work done by US in WWII. Here in our tiny part of the world we still celebrate in our folk songs the landing of the American troops, the "the Year of the Americans." What's been happening since the end of the war is a different story, though. Much of the suffering, misery and oppression in many parts of the world is easily and directly attributable to US current foreign policy. The once libertaors and freedom fighters have turned allies of the dictators and despots, shedding innocent blood for more oil and more power to a bloody gang of Nazi war criminals, namely the Zionist bastards

Because no one really appreciates what America does.

US International Foreign policy is solely dictated by the need for oil.

Can't see the US in the poorer countries of Africa, the eastern part of Europe, or their own back yard in South America, unless there is oil at stake.

You are just plain greedy.

Why do you think historical deeds make up for current mistakes? It is not a trade-off, you know.

And liberating IS about giving it back, otherwise it's called occupation or conquering...

And you obviouly don't realize how many countries did offer help after Katrina?

Ha ha ha. Read international newspapers for a clue. Americans just aren't introspective enough - they don't understand what many, many things they do wrong.

PS - Here's a clue: Europeans are fed up of hearing about WW2.

PPS - Arrogance, neo-colonialism and hypocracy.

Ummm, because the US doesn't ask what the rest of the world thinks before the US takes action... You might try reading some of the foreign media reports. That might answer your question in more depth.
