He can't win the argument verbally, so he turns it physical so that he can win. Eventually, he won't wait for the argument to happen, he'll just start beating.
You shouldn't care that you really like him now, a year from now, when he's turned physically abusive just because he can, you'll wonder what you ever saw in jerk to make you like him and you'll regret not running when you could have.
Make it a clean break, no contact, no looking back, no regrets no nothing. Leave him lying in the dirt where he belongs.

this form of reaction is very dangerous especiall now , when when he knows you can turn things around . Can you beleive how this would turn in when you guys are married ...there would be more difficult and heart breaking instances .
I suggest if you really like him , keep away for a while , try not to fight and ask him to control his temper . Give him a chance to improvise , if you see a change and it persists then accept him but be sure that this does not go back to the intial stages .

Read my lips..."Run, not walk...to the nearest exit" and don't look back...there are plenty of guys who won't slug you...but there is only one "you". You are caught in a deadly emotional trap. Bail out while you can...and you will live to tell about it. You can rationalize it all you want; but by the end of the day...it doesn't make sense...and it will only get worse.
