That's what I could never figure out about California. They ban smoking because it is bad for other people to breath. They have yellow air out there, that is better?

Can we ban fossil fuels? Yes we can and we should. Up until the middle to end of the 19th century, the U.S. economy used wood as its energy source and primary building material. They did so because there were tons of trees everywhere. Didn't have to dig them up or hunt them down. Eventually, there were no more trees. Whale oil was popular as a lighting source because it burned clean. Eventually, they ran out of whales.
The fact is when energy is concerned producers follow the course of least expense. Oil is now the cheapest energy source to bring to market. We can outlaw fossil fuel. If so, you can bet another energy source will be tapped.

Sure we can!! but then you wont have power for your hair dryer, lights, fridge, or computer. There's always nuke power but then OMG!!! NO NO NUKES!! We can't have that now...can we? Solar and wind power is great but doesn't quite generate enough...
Nuke power is the only alternative. As soon as the greenies realize that as they drive their 30 year old VW buses that are blowing out more CO2 and wasting more gasoline than my SUV then the better off we'll be.

You've *almost* got a good point. Except for the fact that gas and coal actually provides mutual benefits for everyone. Unlike tobacco. Which has no benefits for anyone.
