I loved the 80's! Fat hair, great music, and money seemed to flow. It was labeled as the "me" decade...and there was some truth to it. The Cars, Police, Huey Lewis, Run DMC, etc...and let's not forget the Thriller album...came from that era. Interest rates were high, but everyone was having such a great time; it was only a small mark on a huge blackboard of sound and dance. "Clubbing" was at an all time high, the VCR came into being; and everyone had to get a microwave oven. It was a relief after the 70's! Top Gun and Flash Dance were must sees...and the list goes on.

Good? My son was born 26th November 1980 so that was good! Bad? We lived in Belfast then and the hunger strike was about to start and claim 10 lives and that was horrific, the Falklands war was another thing! Maggy Thatcher was the lady of the moment, Kate Bush sang 'Babooshka' a loaf of bread was 60P, we still had a milkman deliver fresh milk in glass bottles, postman came twice a day, and bus fare from my place to town was 30Pence! I drive now so i don't use the bus all that much, imagine my shock when i got told the fare was £1-40! I couldn't believe it! O and it was the introduction of council tax in Scotland ARGH!!! That's a bad memory and all! Other good memories of this era? LOL i quit smoking, went on a diet and slimmed down to a 28 inch waist!!! Part from that ... Family members were younger, i had a baby to look after, his siter 7 years older than him so you could say it was pretty busy! Definitely not the best decade if not the worst either!

Good parts -well, it was my childhood, things are in a somewhat hazy - golden - recollection - mist, back then. I used to live in a very beautiful town (moving away in 1990 was really hard on me, not only because of the loss of friends).
Bad... well, it was a communist regime back then. I mean, I was taught that I have two mothers - the woman who gave me birth, and the Party. And the Party should be loved more, because it gives work and payment to my physical mother... I think one gets the trend. I'd say the worst part of the 1980s for me was the brainwashing, and my being unable to realise it on my own...
