Yes, for many reasons, but I'll talk briefly about four.
1. We can never be entirely sure that our justice system is flaw-proof. So, if we can't be sure that we're punishing the right people, we can't sentence them to die if there's any chance that they did not commit the crime they're being punished for.
2. Our prison system is based on the idea that people can pay their debt to society. Even the word "penitentiary" comes from this idea, etymologically. If we punish people by killing them, we're denying any possibility that they can once again be productive members of sociey. Allowing the death penalty in our justice system is a contradiction.
3. Governments, ours or any other, should not be in the business of violating human rights, for any reason. Period.
4. It's obviously not an efficient method of controlling crime. Perhaps the resources devoted to killing criminals (appeals and the like) could be better spent on programs that will actually reduce the number of crimes committed instead, such as prevention programs, or at least other forms of punishment that are more effective at deterring crime.

The death penalty needs to be in effect and be used as declared by juries. It is pointless to attempt to rehabilitate a person when he has taken another's life. The dead person might have been a more valuable member to society but snuffed out by trash. Yes, mistakes are made but mistakes are everywhere...look at Iraq...If a strong capital crime attitude is in effect, it could deter some of the wanton murder, as murderers now know that a slap on the wrist justifies taking a life. While life is priceless, murderers have chosen to be judge and jury over their victims. The courts today are too lenient is demanding harsh punishment and as a result, criminals roam the street with almost impunity. How would you feel if your parents or a relative was killed 'accidently' in a drive-by shooting. My wife was killed in a terrorist bombing....she was a nurse...how could you even begin to justify saving that person's life...my son survived the attack.

Some crimes deserve death. I think if they chopped off people's hands here when they got caught shoplifting, America would have a dramatically smaller theft rate. If someone raped one of my children, I'd probably kill them myself! Some things deserve the death penalty, and I stand by that. If they kill, they deserve to be killed. How can you argue that someone who purposefully robs another person of their life should deserve the opportunity to live out their own?! That's preposterous.

sure, it would be bumped off. Even one case of sending an harmless guy to his death is in simple terms too many. And regrettably we've considered by using the years (and rather many times those days) situations the place the State has mistakenly convicted adult males for crimes they did not dedicate. Justice might desire to be rapid, yet specially it *might desire to* be precise. There are regulations now combating prosecutors from hiding data - they gain this besides. And DNA data can actual be tampered with or botched. whilst *scientifically* it quite is very stable, in sensible application it quite is in simple terms as stable as a techniques because of the fact the honesty of the adult males who deliver together it. it quite is an user-friendly rely for a corrupt respected to get a pattern of somebody's DNA and then plant that as their condemning "data".

No. If rehabilitation really worked we'd have not repeat criminals. They'd go to jail, learn how bad they were, and never do anything wrong again. Check out www.prodeathpenalty.com for some statistics, stories, and other data.

Yes, America should remove it. Life imprisonment is a better option for criminals. Not all prisoners of course.
