I'm thinking of the times when you HAD to buy a present but were completely skint.

I once bought a set of 12 glasses for £3.99 from Woolworths as a wedding present. So embarrassing.

I once wrapped up a present I got the year before and gave it back to that person for a birthday present. It was a disgusting clown Figurine. How bad is that?

I brought someone a Cadburys creme egg once - her birthday was around easter. Don't think she was expectiing anything at all so was really quite chuffed with it (or at least she pretended to be - has probably been sticking pins into a voodoo doll ever since)

A set of razor-fine artists' pens that my brother adored. He didn't know I got them out of the clearance rack at the office supply store where I worked, for $2.50!
