From a business viewpoint, the reason would have to be to constantly re-invent itself to make it the most popular (read: most visited) search engine.

This Yahoo! Answers was probably birthed forth after careful research to identify the trends of Internet users.

In the past, marketers meet the needs of consumers. Now, marketers create needs that the consumers never thought existed, thereby generating another revenue source for the company.

This is the result of gradually maturing consumer markets, which means that companies have to constantly look for innovative ways to survive by creating and then meeting the needs of consumers like you and I.

little one,
Try and decode the lyrics of this beautiful love song "You ain't heavy! you are my brother" in reaching out and extending a helping hand to our brothers and sisters with the little ones too in solving the problems on what went wrong out there on planet earth.
Along the way someone else pick up the ideas to help themselves on planet earth.
So there is nothing fishy going on with Yahoo answer.
Why not reach out and extend a helping hand to everyone on planet earth.
