Maybe it is a part of the "end of the world" phenomenom you see in the grocery stores just before the Bank Holiday. You know, hordes of people laying in supplies like all stores are going to explode simultaneously this very evening. So they go buy everything under the sun, take it home, dump some of it, and run away to a foreign country.

Daft, that's got to be it.
