I am a teacher and I have a small brilliant in my nose - so what? I'm married to an Indian, it's in their tradition that women get thier noses pierced. I just liked it and got it. I met some negative response from my bosses even though I didn't work with children. But does it make me a bad teacher? Wearing jewelry in ears is fine but why not nose? I really can't understand what's wrong with it. I never compromised on my personal choice and never removed this little lovely thing. I somehow always managed to stand by my point of view.

i don't see why not. elementary teachers are also humans who are allowed to express themselves. indian women wear nose studs and there's nothing wrong with that. i bet there are indian women who teach pre-school and have nose studs as well.

if kids ask about it, then that's the only time we have to make sure that the teacher answers correctly so it will not make a negative impression.

Make sure there are no school dress policies against body piercings. Some have it written in the dress code.
If the school is fine with it, then go for it. Just know that little kids will ask questions and make comments about it. Small children have no problem saying what's on their mind, no matter how bad it is! As the teacher, you will have to explain it every year to each new class.

It depends on the regulations of the school. Personally, I won't recommend it.
