although belly button is a non functional organ once you've started breathing on this earth; it is very sensitive organ. Unless you are mad about a pierced belly button, don't mess with this beautiful but sensitive organ.

Hey,me again,as you know im 12 too and actually also want to get my belly button peirced,but i wasn't hoping to get it this early,wait.Maybe when your much older.

i'd have to agree with one of the answers, it depends on how your bellybutton looks like. i'm just saying that peircings often attract people's attention to wherever it's located.
make sure that whoever's peircing your bellybutton has his/her equipment sterilised. the worst thing that could happen is getting your peircing infected and your parents telling you "I told you!". another thing, you have to know how to take care of it as well. body peircings don't heal that fast because they are usually deeper than everyday wounds. you have to apply some ointment on it to help it heal.
i've nothing against body peircings because they can be removed anyway.
