That fish did not smell like fish until women started swimming many, many years ago?

I have often heard that, but I never have heard the answer. Can you answer that for me please?

I've heard the joke before but don't really remember how it went. God was getting onto Eve for going for a swim saying he wouldn't ever get the smell out of the fish.

Yes, because I'm sure when you are standing next a woman at work or at school you notice the horrible reek of fish everytime. You can't even be in the same room with your mother without telling her to go take a shower and wash off that fish smell. Right?
