I'd like to get some specifics, if you know them. On motors, batteries, motor controls, amperage...whatever is relevent.
the trike is VW powered, with a VW 4 speed transaxle (for now)
I am really sick of paying $3.30 per gal. of gas!!
any technical help would be great!!
thanks!

There are so many cars that flopped when converted to electric. The batteries alone will overload your Trikes' payload and carrying capacity. But if you really want to do it anyway - This is just a wild idea which may work. Remove all the VW drivetrain and suspension - they're too heavy already. Install Two Small electric Motors and couple it with a direct drive dog clutch set-up similar to small scooter bikes.. with a Riostat (Stator) Control as your accelerator pedal, you will be needing to remove the old shifter since there is no more need for it.

And for the Batteries - install at least 4 3SN sizes similar to the ones they put on SUV's and connect them in a siries connection. A switch to reverse the polarity will be your Reverse Switch Control. A provision for the Battery Charger must also be considered so if you run out of charge somewhere - you can easily tap where ever for electricity.

If you put a Big Electric Motor as your prime mover with a flywheel, you may have a stronger power plant - but the weight will defeat the purpose. POWER TO WEIGHT RATIO is the key for a succesful vehicle design.

I hope this enlightens your idea somehow... Good Luck!

Good luck with this. 3.30 a gallon is ridiculous.
