the above choice was taken from the following introduction to an article entitled "Why Democracy Is Wrong":

"Democracy does not deserve the semi-sacred status accorded to it. In Europe, democratically elected politicians such as Jean-Marie Le Pen, Silvio Berlusconi, Umberto Bossi, Gianfranco Fini and Pim Fortuyn are a reminder of democracy's defects: an anti-racist dictatorship is preferable to a racist democracy. Democracy is expanding globally, but not because of its moral superiority. Military intervention is now the standard origin of democratic political systems. Any universal ideology will tend to crusades and messianic conquest, and democracies feel entitled to 'bring freedom' to other countries. Below, more on the ethical problems, definitions of democracy, the issue of inequality, the defects of democratic culture, the nation as the 'demos', the claimed justifications for democracy, and alternatives to democracy."

The former, because democracy is a sham.

At least with a dictatorship everyone knows they are being oppressed and who the oppressor is. This knowledge emancipates the masses.

In a democracy the people are tricked into thinking they are somehow responsible for the mess they are in themselves. This ignorance makes them slaves.

Theoretically, it wouldn't matter what political pot you boiled because the scum would always rise to the top eventually - this is human nature.

Those who are the least limited by moral convictions would sooner or later get a good handle on the levers of any new political system and with less restrictions placed on their actions by themselves, would have an advantage over the more ethical competition. They would thus consolidate power eventually.

Unfortunately, we don't live in a theoretical world we live in a real one.

In the real world, political divisions are the creation of a united scum who are already in power and operate above those divisions. Revolutions and wars are manufactured and change nothing at the top of the pile.

There is only one real political system the rest are all mirages.

This political system is the perpetual battle between those in power and the masses, except, throughout history the masses have largely not been congniscent of this struggle and have been manipulated to fight amongst themselves whilst simultaneously empowering those unseen overlords.

The battle rages but we are fighting on the wrong fronts.

This question goes to the core of a perception problem that US citizens seem to have. In US it is elieved that THE ONLY form of government is a democracy. Democracy is NOT the best way to govern, and many people do not want to be part of a democracy.

Many countries that are called 'democratic' work on principles so far removed from the USA model, that USA people will not consider them true democracies.

I love the quote above !!
