The system requirements aren't that steep for that game. I would say any new PC for $600-$700 price range will be more than plenty for AOE3. Just make sure you get a real graphics card by NVIDIA or ATI instead of integrated graphics and you should be OK.
Also, here's a recommended mid-range configuration that shouldn't be too expensive and run that game fine.
2 GHz equivalent or faster CPU either by Intel or AMD
512 MB RAM
DVD-ROM drive
At least 120GB Hard Drive or as much as you can get
NVIDIA 6200 or ATI Radeon 9000 series or faster

HP, IBM, APPLE- and there are actually many types of A B C D E F G H AND ALL that. The point is- what you find is suitable for your requirements.
It would be ideal if you go to the different showroooms of different models and then request for the details of certain types of models- you will get practical suggestions.
Here, on yahoo answers, you will get as many answers but they are all based on people's OWN experiences and they are according to their requirements NOT YOURS. You will still be confused.
So talking to the professionals who deal with this everyday would be a better idea I guess.. You will get practical suggestions too.
If you really need it, go now! :-)
All the best

I highly recommend a company called ABS Computer. I did a lot of research and they had the best price, great service, and a solid selection of models.
What config? Depends on your budget, check these out:

A computer that you build yourself. You can always upgrade later instead of wasting your money on a pre-built piece of crap like an e-machine, Gateway or IBM.
But if you do want a pre-built, I'd go with Dell or HP.

i could rattle on and on about what kind of computer you need to fit your needs but, ill jst say I beleave gateway is my fav company so chose them and get a computer with a Flat screen for mabe 1500.00 but something they dont sell with it is a good graphics card, so youll need to get one of them too mabe about 50.00-100.00 not too bad, That will be a good computer. Mines only 5 Months old and has Dual Core tech in it, and i havent had any problems yet
