You know that astrology is calculated on where the sun, stars and planets were in the sky relative to the earth, right? The sun, stars, and planets are gas balls and lumps of rock. How is a ball of gas and a lump of rock going to tell you what your future will be? So it doesn't matter if an astrologer calculates from the time of conception or the time of birth because it's false science and superstition.

The best way to know it is to try it out yourself, find a good astrologer or a birth chart maker, give him/her just your date and time of birth and no other personal info, and ask them to predict all that has happened till now, if it works, it works!

Unless you've tried it yourself there is little sense in rejecting something, right? People will have diverse opinions about every thing in life, the point is what do you base your opinions and beliefs on, personal experience or hearsay?

PS: An astrologer can cast your chart based on the stars at the time of birth, your first breath, and usually that is enough.
Though how would you ever find the time of your conception??

There are some general norms of physiognomy and expectations from family background. Take a pinch of each of these, add generous quantities of statistics to it and tell the future.
Seriously, a good astrolger is never very specific but always uses vague words, which you interprete according to your belief.
For example, I say, 'in your life you have two serious loves'' You would then automatically think, 'Oh! that one must be the first and which is the second?? Is this person I met last week supposed to be my second great chance to be happy?????WOW!!!!!

The planetary bodies are more involved in our lives than most can imagine.

However, they will not tell you the future. What they can tell you are clues about how and why people behave in certain situations. How generations of people are influenced by the stars.

The fortune telling is a way to try and predict the influence. It will never be accurate, though. There is still so much to study.

The person who answered above could be a leo.
Just a guess ^^.
