The island of Tasmania is an Australian state and it is separated from it by the Bass Strait. Tasmania has a population of under half million and the size somewhat under 70 thousand square kilometers. The capital and largest city is Hobart, followed by the cities of Launceston, Devonport and Burnie.

It was founded as 'Hobart Town' in 1804 when it was a penal colony. It became a city in 1842 and was nemande 'Hobart' in 1875.

It is the second oldest city in Australia and has the 12th largest population - 206,000 people.

oh thats easy and I`m only in 8th grade not even in Highschool. Tasmania Australia is Hobart and victoria is melbourne and Western Australia is Perth. Oh and I didn`t look at the first persons answers too.
