I like them both, BJ had better practical jokes but Trapper and Hawkeye came up with better schemes.

Trapper was back when the series was a bit more light hearted, a bit funnier. I liked Trapper. He was a good counter point to Hawkeye.

When BJ joined the scene, the show had taken a more serious turn. He also was a good counterpoint to Hawkeye, but he was, at times, as serious as Hawkeye. He drew more emotion. He also had a lighter side that made his character likeable.

Really, I liked both. LOL!

Trapper John. BJ was ok but he was too stiff. even today if MASH was on and it was with Trapper John, I would watch that. If it had BJ, I could skip

I agree Trapper was funnier but BJ had more heart.

your right on both counts. I've seen every episode as they were coming out in the 70's, and I still watch them all the time now. I'm partial to the trapper, frank burns, radar, henry blake ones myself.
